"There is no Comprehensive Plan and while our main attraction, the Historic Center, continues to degrade without receiving investments," denounces the local spokesman, Jerónimo Moya
Citizens has denounced today the "nonexistent, disastrous and ineffective" tourism policy of the PSOE government team. "The only tourist policy has been to take the mayor to paid expenses for a walk to Fitur, while Cehegín does not even have a website in conditions to promote us or while the hotel or the apartments of the Wall remain closed and shut ", lamented the local orange spokesman, Jerónimo Moya.
The spokesman says that "from Citizens we have all the legislature denouncing the lack of a comprehensive local plan for the sector and the serious shortcomings that we suffer in this matter, deficiencies that the local government are not able to face due to lack of project, capacity and work".
According to Moya, "the mayor Rocamora and his team are determined to start the house on the roof, spending very important sums in Fitur without knowing the return of that investment in the tourism and hospitality sector of Cehegín".
Citizens has already denounced in several plenary sessions that Cehegín lacks a website focused on tourism, "something so basic that it is embarrassing to have to remind the socialist government."
The Dońa Teresa rural houses are added to the La Muralla Hotel and the apartments of the Muralla as closed tourist infrastructures due to lack of investment. "The Casco Antiguo, our main tourist attraction, has been abandoned, throughout the legislature and the dirt and neglect campan at ease, because it is not just that there has been no investment, is that they have degraded the maintenance and cleanliness, as reported by the neighbors themselves, "said the orange spokesman.
Moya has demanded that the government team "stop using propaganda and wasteful expenses and invest in improving our resources so that we can go to Fitur or other fairs with a powerful and defined product that allows Cehegín to become a benchmark in domestic tourism".
He considers that "we have the historical, patrimonial, natural or gastronomic resources that would allow us to achieve it, but for that we must put them in value and design an adequate tourism policy, giving voice to the actors of the sector and investing in improving these resources".
From Cs has also been denounced the "improvisation with which it returns to go to Fitur, with a hodgepodge of proposals without a thread or continuity, and that has reached its most absurd point with the issue of Cubofit."
Moya believes that if it is only supposed to be available in Cehegín until the end of May, we do not understand the meaning of promoting it in Fitur or what repercussion it will have on sports tourism. "
In his opinion, this effort should be dedicated to the recovery and signaling of hiking and cyclist routes in the Sierra de Burete, "which have even been phased out by the Mountain Federation of the Region of Murcia due to lack of maintenance".
Moya recalled that "we find another example of the disastrous work of Rocamora government and the councilor of Tourism, who instead of investing in creating an attractive product for their promotion, have reduced tourism policy to take pictures with the rest of socialist mayors in Madrid with the money of all the cehegineros.
They try to cover with propaganda, photos and videos what is really lack of work and project, and their inability to manage an area such as tourism that would serve to create employment and wealth.
