The Plenary Hall of the City Council has hosted the awards in competitions of short stories, poetry and historical essay Cehegín in a ceremony led by Mayor Jose Soria, Councillor for Education and Culture, Nicolás del Toro, and the member Jose Barquero jury.
The Bernardo Olivenza Beatriz Madrid has won the Short Story Competition V 'Salvador García Jiménez', which has received 2,000 euros of prize and a replica of the Cross of Cehegín as a souvenir of their passage through the town.
A teacher of language, with an impressive resume, has topped more than 700 stories submitted, with his work 'Meeting', which, as she says, "is basically a ghost story, although it is not scary" .
For its part, the poem 'The light of the abyss' of Logroño Adrián Pérez Castillo, has been the Second Prize of Poetry 'Gil Fernando Tudela', which has received $ 1,000 and another cross ceheginera.
The author stated that "this is the first time I win a prize out of La Rioja, thanks to a collection of poems in which I had high hopes, which speaks of the dark side of the cities."
Also, Francisco Javier Gómez Ortín, better known as the 'Father Javier', has made the first edition of Historical Essay Prize 'Cehegín City' with a paper entitled "History of the name 'Cehegín''with which has collected 1,000 euros and the publication of his work.
The author, who began collecting data in the 70's, talks about the different dynastic branches of this surname, which he says, "there is no one in Spain last name is so, although it is likely to get people in South America ".
