Cehegín City Council has acquired the House of Apothecaries, which paid the amount of 140,000 euros, since, as stated by Councilman Communication Francisco in April, "seemed the only way this house again regain treasured splendor years ago. "
The House of the Apothecary, located on Main Street, opposite the Casino, will be restored and designed, almost certainly, cultural and tourism purposes.
Built in the XVII century, consists of a two storey building distinct: a shed, with an entrance flanked by two Ionic columns, and other neo-classical, with the Alvarez family crest on its facade.
The interior has an interesting cloister or patio-runner, made of wood, with a central well.
The name of this house is due to the famous and popular apothecaries, sisters Ortega Encina.
The construction was intended at first to the nuns of La Concepción, so it has a provision cloister.
The Ionic columns of the input comes from the Temple of Jupiter Begastri City, noteworthy among the eaves with decorative borders shoes endorsed and which fits openings and walls.
