Rosendo Berengüí receives the Gold Insignia of the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia (29/09/2017)

Ceheginero Rosendo Berengüí had another great recognition yesterday to his race as professional in the sport of the athletics.

It was in the IGaladel Sport of the Union of Sports Federations of the Region of Murcia, where it received, from this Institution, the Gold Insignia. In this first edition, this meeting served to bring together the extensive family of regional sport.

The event, in which the ComunidadAutónomadela Regiónde Murcia collaborated, was attended by the Mayor of Cehegín, José Rafael Rocamora, as well as the Councilor for Sports, Joaquín López, who wanted to accompany Rosendo in this distinction.

The gala recalled that Rosendo, who also collected the award given to the Federation of Athletics of Murcia, was elected President of the same in 1984, a position he held until 2012. He has also been President of the National Committee of Athletic March Federation has appeared as Team Leader in some twenty European and World Meetings and Championships.

Already, in 2001, the plenary of the Municipality approved that the name of Rosendo Berengüí was reflected in a street of our town and, this same year, the plenary decided that the M3 Pavilion would take its name.

Finally, José rafa Rocamora concluded by stating that "there are people who become an icon. To speak of them, as can be seen in this trajectory, is to speak of part of our history." His name is linked to that of Cehegín. won a great defender with the figure of Rosendo Berengüí and we, all cehegineros, we have to feel proud that that has been so.
